Blob (iSIM)

What is Blob (iSIM)?

In the context of iSIM, a Blob is the digital bundle created during the SAS-UP iSIM generation process. It contains all the secure data needed to form an integrated SIM (iSIM).

The Blob goes into a silicon chip’s Secure Enclave, known as the iTRE (integrated Trusted Execution Environment). Inside the iTRE, the secure data lets the chip operate as an iSIM. This gives it the same functions as a physical SIM or eSIM, but fully built into the device’s hardware.

By storing sensitive credentials inside protected hardware, this method strengthens security. It also speeds up manufacturing by enabling iSIM functionality during production, removing the need for a separate SIM component.

The Blob (iSIM) is the secure digital package that turns a silicon chip into a complete, integrated SIM for IoT devices.
