As the IoT continues to evolve, the need for secure, scalable, and efficient connectivity has never been more critical. At Kigen, we’re focused on empowering businesses to tackle these challenges head-on through eSIM and iSIM technology innovations.

Over the past few months, we’ve made significant strides in enabling IoT manufacturers and developers to realize the full potential of their connected devices. I’m proud that our teams have shown ingenuity and tackled some of the hardest challenges that manufacturers and operators alike face when taking IoT to scale.

I’d like to explore how our latest advancements are making cellular simpler and within reach for globally connected solutions. Real, tangible tools for development that are standardized, interoperable, and cognisant of the future for your development to scale.

Revolutionizing IoT Device Management with eSIM and SGP.32

Managing a large fleet of IoT devices can be daunting, especially when power constraints, security, and scalability come into play.

That’s why I’m excited about the launch of Kigen’s eSIM IoT remote Manager (eIM)—our market-ready solution designed to address the challenges of eSIM management in large-scale IoT deployments.

Fully compliant with GSMA SGP.32, the Kigen eIM introduces a simplified architecture that makes it easier for manufacturers to manage eSIMs across their IoT device ecosystems.

One of the key innovations here is the ability to operate efficiently with single-charge, battery-powered devices.

This is a game changer for IoT devices that need to run for extended periods with minimal power. By leveraging on-the-fly profile translation and indirect profile downloads from legacy SM-DP+ servers, Kigen’s eIM ensures that devices remain connected with minimal downtime without introducing additional operational complexity.

With the addition of Kigen Pulse, a unified console for managing eSIM fleets, our customers gain a centralized, user-friendly experience. This platform enables seamless management of eSIM assets post-deployment, simplifying business operations and enhancing scalability.

Kigen Pulse unifies all eSIM operations and can extend to any SMDP+

Kigen Pulse is designed with rich Open API 3.0 integrations and can work with tools that allow you to build, scale, and protect from the factory all the way to the field.  This is driven by the desire to help deliver developers and integrators who have to work through a myriad of platforms in the tech stack to support the rollout and maintenance of IoT fleets.

It’s an exciting step forward for the industry, and we’re already seeing strong adoption across key partners. Over 15 IoT customers are integrating this solution into their ecosystems. This includes Particle, who are using the capabilities to add satellite or NTN connectivity switch-overs directly using smart loss-less logic from our eSIM consumer OS working in tandem with Kigen eIM.

This release also lays out a clear path to our roadmap—Kigen eIM is available now on Kigen eUICC OS with an LPAe (the local profile assistant agent in the eSIM), with additional features led by deep partnerships expected in the next six months. Hence, all releases benefit from rigorous testing and are in step sync with the latest standards.

Speeding Time-to-Market with iSIM with Vodafone Business IoT

While eSIM addresses the complexities of managing physical SIM cards, #iSIM (integrated SIM) takes connectivity a step further by making SIM functionality an integral part of the silicon in the chipset.

This is a major leap in IoT connectivity, enabling more compact devices, reduced costs, and enhanced security.

Extending our long-standing partnership with Vodafone Business IoT, what’s really exciting is that businesses can now get an iSIM on faster timescales than traditional SIMs—something that is a significant factor in time to market for globally connected device manufacturers. The tight integration of Kigen’s iSIM Secure Packages with Vodafone’s managed connectivity has made this a reality, delivering secure, low-power IoT solutions at a speed previously unattainable in the SIM space.

This means businesses can manufacture connected devices once and ship them globally without worrying about delays tied to SIM card provisioning. From smart metering to asset tracking and beyond, iSIM is paving the way for a new generation of IoT devices that require long battery life and reliable connectivity.

It also reduces the overall complexity of product development by consolidating hardware components and streamlining the global connectivity process.

This partnership with Vodafone is just the beginning—we are committed to making iSIM technology the de facto standard for IoT deployments.

Empowering developers with the iSIM Evaluation tools

As a former engineer, I understand the friction developers face when working with legacy SIM technology. From sourcing physical SIMs to managing multiple SKUs, the process is cumbersome and costly.

That’s why I’m particularly excited about our collaboration with Monogoto and the release of their iSIM Evaluation Kit

Kigen iSIM EVK Monogoto murata skylo

This is the first pre-bundled direct-to-developer to build and connect iSIM technology, taking full sight of factors towards full-scale production and having a nice developer experience along the way.

By embedding SIM functionality directly into the modem, iSIM not only reduces design complexity but also lowers the total cost of ownership.

This evaluation kit enables developers to experiment with this cutting-edge technology, leveraging Murata’s 1SC module and Sony’s Altair ALT1250 chipset.

This helps bridge the gap between prototyping and deployment, allowing companies to bring their products to market faster while ensuring reliable and secure connectivity. I believe the shift towards a software-defined secure connectivity model represents the future of IoT development. So, now, whether it’s no-code or a quick start to take advantage of the pre-designed, pre-bundled combinations, there are several options developers can consider for enterprise rollouts.

I encourage all developers to explore how iSIM can transform their connected devices.

A New Era for IoT Connectivity

At Kigen, we’re committed to enabling the future of IoT connectivity through secure, scalable, and efficient solutions. At times, when you’re deep in the problem space, it may seem one collaborative step towards customer success to another, but as we take stock of the recent announcement in the last two weeks, the sum of the parts is encouraging.

With the launch of our eSIM IoT remote Manager, the commercial availability of iSIM in partnership with Vodafone, and the iSIM Evaluation Kit for developers, we are laying the foundation for the next wave of innovation in connected devices.

I’m proud of our teams to have driven these with a passion for customer success: a testimony from one of our customers says it best “The professionalism, responsiveness, and genuine partnership your team has shown is nothing short of outstanding.”

As IoT expands across industries, the need for reliable, low-power and secure connectivity solutions will only increase. Our goal is to ensure that our customers—whether they are deploying large-scale IoT solutions or developing the next generation of connected products—can confidently do so, knowing that they have access to best-in-class eSIM and iSIM technologies.

The future of IoT or as we call it here, #FutureofSIM is bright, and Kigen is proud to be at the forefront of this transformation with our ecosystem of partners.
